about

Jack Hardy was more than the songwriter’s songwriter – he was a connector. This was also the case for the band. Kirk and Scott had met previously, via mutual friends in a band that was superseded by Kirk's European tour with Jack Hardy. That tour wound up being Jack's last before passing in 2011.
Scott had retired from music at that point, but because of his history with Jack Hardy’s “Fast Folk” scene in the 1990s, he was asked to play a song at the memorial service. That song was not “White Shoes” – but he ran into Kirk there, and helped him back up some of the other performers.
That summer's Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, where Scott and Kirk had gone to support Jack's memorial, hatched the idea to start a band when Scott introduced Kirk to his original songs.
The following year Matt and Skyler had signed on, and again Scott was asked to perform in a tribute concert for Jack Hardy. The band performed “White Shoes”, which Scott chose because it was one of the most beautiful songs he’d ever heard. It hasn't yet become a regular part of the Other Heroes' live sets, but was a must to include here. Had it not been for Jack Hardy, the band might never have formed.
Ironically – this was the first song the band ever played in public, and yet it's the most recent recording on the EP, being completed this summer of '22.
